Earlier this week, I joined our team out in the field for a full property inspection.

It’s always valuable to step away from the desk and walk a property together—reminding ourselves of what’s important to look for and making sure nothing slips through the cracks. The truth is, we can all use a refresher from time to time, myself included.

On my morning bike ride today, I passed a few of our buildings and noticed the landscaping looking a little thirsty in this heat. The hose was right there, so… I took a quick detour and gave the plants some love.

This is actually how I got roped into doing “miscellaneous maintenance” over the years. Sometimes leadership means rolling up your sleeves—or hopping off your bike—and pitching in where it counts.

Plus, it felt good to start the day being helpful and slightly damp.
